Nerja

Cafés, bars, shops, narrow, winding streets and whitewashed houses with wrought iron terraces overflowing with geraniums are plentiful. At the heart of Nerja is its spectacular Balcón de Europa, a magnificent palm tree-lined promontory with sweeping panoramic views of the Mediterranean and the small coves and beaches to the east and west.

From the Balcón de Europa, head east along the fashionable Calle Carabeo with it´ s million euro plus south-facing townhouses and apartments. Continue walking east to Playa Burriana with its many bars, restaurants and water sports. Its promenade is named in honour of Antonio Mercero, the producer of the well - known Spanish television series of the 80 s, Verano Azul, that was filmed in Nerja.

Nerja is not the typical classic Spanish seaside resort boasting a long promenade of first-line properties. In fact only a small proportion of its beaches are property dominated. In total there are no less than 9 beaches from Playazo in the west to Burriana in the east.
